Introduction to Google Earth Engine
Google Earth Engine (GEE) is a cloud-based geospatial analysis platform that enables users to visualize and analyze satellite images of our planet. Scientists and non-profits use Earth Engine for remote sensing research, predicting disease outbreaks, natural resource management, and more. In this presentation delivered by Dr. Popoola Oladimeji Samuel, He was able to take the scientist through the basics of the GEE interface, and the basic tasks such as variable declarations and types, various data repositories available in GEE archive and how to load sample imagery. The scientists were able to practice and extract sentinel imagery over ile ife as the study area. The extracted image was clipped and sample NDVI was generated.
